Synopsis for "Kiiron"
After Karl Dornik, military specialist turned drifter, crash lands on Iskinar, a desert planet in the Veil Nebula, he is arrested and taken to Kiiron: the location of a secret military base. While he is being taken from there to Midpoint Haven - the military government's command centre - he manages to escape and is rescued by the beautiful Praaxian, Treecia ven Willem. Treecia, a trader, on her way home after a voyage to worlds deep in the heart of the galaxy, is tall, blonde and fiercely independent; but she has a dark secret: one which will seal both their fates as she falls for the handsome adventurer and he for her.
Dornik, angered by his treatment at the hands of the military, is determined to penetrate the mystery surrounding Kiiron. When he and Treecia return, once more, to the planet of Iskinar, they are befriended by the diminutive Corrua, whose people have been taken captive and transported to a secret destination. They offer to help find Corrua's wife and children, and become involved in a mesh of politics and intrigue which implicates both the Confederation (the original, civilian government) and the Protectorate (the new, military rulers).
Karl and Treecia are separated many times during their adventure - by the actions of others, Karl's sense of duty, and their own stubborness. Whether you're a science fiction adventure fan or not, you'll be turning the pages of Kiiron to see what happens next!
Synopsis for "The Shepherds of Or'Madz"
The 'Protectorate' is at war with an unknown assailant, and has been for two years. Almost daily, the pilots based on Koren Tar, home to the '18th Fighter Wing', must take their 'Rapide' class interceptors into battle with hordes of enemy 'Intruders', launched from hidden bases across the border.
'Ice', a two year veteran, has flown more than a hundred missions, and killed over two hundred of the enemy, when she is caught in a trap, while trying to save her wingman. Despite suffering terrible injuries, she demands to be returned to her ship, against the wishes of Andros Kylee, the base surgeon. Major Cutter, her commanding officer, desperate to get an experienced pilot back in the fight - even though she's been diagnosed by Kylee as 'psychotic' - argues for her re-instatement. Eventually, the two men agree to leave the decision to a senior officer from the Training Directorate, who is due to make an inspection of the based in the next few days.
Colonel Karl Dornik has spent the last six months visiting every garrison and outpost along the border, and arrives on Koren Tar tired, irritable and in no mood to get involved in the two men's disagreement. To make matters worse, he is immediately ordered to divert to Chua Cebris to receive a reconnaissance report from Riuth Rydell, captain of the Dasher class frigate, 'Kalifor'. She has discovered the remains of a fierce battle, fought over a planet more than two hundred light-years across the border. Bodies lie in their thousands, while ships burn on the surface. The entire planet, a source of highly volatile fuel ore, is on fire and set to explode at any moment! Close by, on the surface of a moon, circling one of the outer planets, she has also found a large sphere - clearly man-made, and more than a thousand kilometres in diameter!
As Dornik attempts to fathom the mystery surrounding this dreadful slaughter, he uncovers evidence of treason at the very heart of the 'Protectorate'.
Just when he thinks things can't get any worse, he receives a message from Major Cutter. A message concerning 'Ice'. A message that will change his life forever!
Synopsis for "Lodestar Rising"
Karl Dornik is on a peace mission, when he is captured by Sha'meser, one of the Law Givers of the Ashinur, a mysterious, warlike race. With the help of a member of the Giri-Silig-ta-Dingur, a group of female assassins, personally trained by Sha'meser, Dornik manages to escape to Drifting Star. The Ashinur give chase, but, in the nick of time, Drifting Star encounters an Overseer - an artificial moon, more than two thousand kilometres in diameter. Given sanctuary by the huge planetoid, he is transported to Cameolepidus, the principle world of the Or'Madz, a race as old as the Ashinur, and their implacable enemy, where he hopes to meet their leaders - the twelve 'Judges'.
While he is waiting, with growing impatience, for his audience, events are taking a turn for the worse in the timeless battle between the forces of Or'Madz and those of the Ashinur. Already, countless worlds are dying as the two races struggle for supremacy. The very heavens are on fire as the mysterious myth stored in Meeka, Drifting Star's computer, has predicted. Also, as predicted, other ancient races, previously hidden among the vast tracts of the universe, are emerging from the Om'Shin Abyss - a massive connective crossing space and time - and heading for a small star, identified in the myth as the 'Lodestar'. They are journeying to the very home of the gods, where they are to give an accounting of their actions since time first began. Upon the completion of this 'accounting' the universe, and every living thing within it, must cease to exist.
